Day two of 2017 Extreme Benchrest saw many of the 120+ competitors taking part in either the 25 Meter benchrest competition and/or the first card of the 75 Yard Extreme Benchrest competition.

The 25 Meter benchrest event sees some keen competition, with plenty of concern for the wind, even at such a relatively short range.

It’s also the scene for the annual “grudge match” between Airguns of Arizona employees Darren Schollmeyer (no hat) and Brad Lamoreaux (orange hat). Here they are shooting it out together…

Last year Brad won, this year Darren took the honors. And then it was back to work for both, manning the reception desk at 2017 Extreme Benchrest. Thanks, guys, for all your hard work!

Again at 2017 Extreme Benchrest, we can see some great younger shooters in action. Probably the youngest was 8 year-old Van Hartman. He was shooting well at the 75 Yard Extreme Benchrest competition with his Dad just behind him to ensure safety.

Can you sit like this? Keyon Beyrami is a veteran of several Extreme Benchrest competitions, despite his young age. He used to have to stand to shoot, but now he’s taller, he uses this interesting technique…

Of course, the main event at 2017 Extreme Benchrest is the 75-yard competition. Those targets look awfully small at this range!

Below we see Steve Buchanan, AoA’s service guru, shooting at the 75 yard competition. Just about every Airguns of Arizona employee shoots in Extreme Benchrest, they’re all keen shooters. Interest in airguns is more than just a job for them.

Meanwhile, Steve Scialli, from YouTube’s AEAC channel was busy videoing the event for all to see in the near future.

And another video-maker making a welcome return to the airgun was Paul Capello. Paul’s working with Utah Airguns. Great to see you again, Paul!

The Phoenix Airgun Club is hosting 2017 Extreme Benchrest now. In just two weeks, they will host the 2017 Field Target Nationals. This is a huge effort for the club and for Club President Garrett Kwakkestein who spent much of the day as Range Officer for Extreme Benchrest.

It’s the hard work of Club members and AoA employees that makes 2017 Extreme Benchrest run in such a well-oiled professional and enjoyable way – just like it does every year.  These folk work hard so that others can enjoy themselves. They all deserve our thanks!

Below, after targets are scored, they’re posted publicly on the “Wall of Sighs” behind the range. Here competitors go to see the results of their efforts and – often – sigh that they will do better next time. Or even tomorrow…
