Today we’re taking a look at the Buck Rail Tactical Chassis for the Barra 1100z PCP air rifle.

I met up with Buck Rail owner Terry Harman and his eldest son Atticus at the 2024 Pyramyd Cup recently and was impressed with the range and quality of products they were showing.

This week a Buck Rail Tactical Chassis for the Barra 1100z PCP air rifle arrived at the Hard Air Magazine offices. The Barra 1100z air rifle earned a HAM Gold Award when we tested it back in March 2023 so I was interested to install it and try-out the new look.

The Buck Rail chassis is “3D printed” from laser-fused PA12 Nylon. It’s designed to be used with an AR15-style buttstock which is purchased separately. Buck Rail can supply a pistol grip if required and ours came complete with a Milspec A2 grip in Flat Dark Earth.

Firstly I was pleased and impressed to see the high quality surface finish of the chassis.

Also, the dimensional accuracy was excellent. The chassis itself fitted perfectly onto the Barra 1100z action while the pistol grip, in turn, fitted onto the chassis perfectly.

I decided to use a Leapers UTG S2 Ops Ready AR15 buttstock in conjunction with the Buck Rail chassis and pistol grip.

Compared to the factory stock, the Barra chassis plus Leapers buttstock produced a welcome 1 Lb 2 Oz reduction in weight for the completed air rifle.

Installation was simple, following Terry’s comprehensive YouTube video.

As a reminder, the photograph below shows the Barra 1100z in factory configuration.

The Buck Rail chassis certainly makes a huge change in the appearance, for sure! To compliment the new look, I installed a compact Leapers UTG Bugbuster scope.

In my opinion, the Buck Rail Tactical Chassis for the Barra 1100z PCP air rifle is a high quality product that can be used – in conjunction with an AR15-type buttstock – to transform the looks and handling of the airgun. It also fits the Beeman Chief II, should you have that model.

It also made a simply, yet satisfying project. Oh, and should you prefer “beaver tail” AR15 pistol grips, they also fit too, as you can see below.

The price for the kit, including A2 grip was $96.00 with free shipping. And it’s designed and manufactured by Terry and his family in Texas!
