Finally we have HAM’s Top Ten most popular pellet reviews for 2019. While there were similarities between the most popular rifle and pistol reviews compared to last year: for pellets, it’s very different!
In 2019, HAM readers read 600,000 HAM test reviews – that’s an increase of 100,000 from the previous year.
In total, you spent 40,000 – yes FORTY THOUSAND HOURS – reading HAM reviews this year. Thank you for your support! We hope that you continue to find HAM test reviews informative, useful and interesting
These are your choices for 2019’s most popular pellet reviews for 2019.
In First Place – JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy
JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy 18.13 Grain pellets are well-priced and give excellent quality of manufacture. It’s easy to see why these .22 caliber pellets win a coveted HAM Gold Award!
These pellets would be ideal for airgun hunting with a powerful PCP air rifle. But they’re probably somewhat heavy for a mid- or low-power springer, resulting in a rather elliptical trajectory with lower powered air rifles.
JSB pellets have a great reputation for accuracy. If your gun likes these pellets and has enough power, why look further?

Two – Redesigned JSB Jumbo Monster
The redesigned JSB Exact Jumbo Monster 25.39 grain pellets are a great choice for airgun hunting with powerful PCP air rifles. They easily achieve a HAM Silver Award for quality and value.
At a typical online Street Price of $11.99 for a tin of 200, these Jumbo Monsters cost 5.96 cents each. This is expensive for a .22 caliber pellet, but you do get a lot of lead in every one. And, hunters shoot relatively few pellets, so it makes sense to go for quality in an airgun hunting pellet.
These pellets were in first place in 2018 – a very consistent performance and strong indication of HAM reader interest!

In Third Place – JSB Exact King
Twenty Five is a primary airgun hunting caliber. JSB Exact King 25.36 Grain .25 Caliber pellets are the most popular out there and it’s easy to see why from this HAM test review!
The relatively high Ballistic Coefficient of 0.038 gives these pellets good downrange hunting characteristics and the head sizes are very consistent. This is an easy HAM Silver Award winner and – without just one short pellet in the test sample – would have achieved Gold Award status.

Number Four – JSB Exact Jumbo Diabolo
The Czech manufacturer takes the top four places in HAM’s Top Ten most popular pellet reviews for 2019. That’s very impressive!
JSB Exact Jumbo Diabolo 15.89 Grain .22 caliber pellets are priced exactly (pun intended!) at the median cost of .22 airgun pellets. That’s 4.00 cents each for the 250-count tin. They’re also available in 500-count tins, where the price per pellet falls to 3.8 cents.
This makes them good value for money from such a prestigious pellet-manufacturing name.

Number Five – Crosman Premier Hollow Point
Crosman Premier Hollow Point 7.9 Grain .177 caliber pellets gain a coveted HAM Gold Award because they offer great value for money.
Sure, manufacturing consistency is not the greatest. But they’re clean and work surprisingly well in most airguns. Crosman’s great distribution network makes them very easy to buy. And the price is very hard to beat!
As you can see from many HAM test reviews, these pellets work pretty well in most airguns. Whatever airgun you’re shooting, it’s unlikely that you will go too far wrong with these cheap, versatile pellets.

Number Six – Crosman Premier Hollow Point
What, again? Yes, it’s true, but this time the review was for the .22 caliber pellets.
Crosman Premier Hollowpoint 14.3 Grain pellets are far from being the most consistent pellets available. But they do work well in a wide variety of airguns and sometimes can match the accuracy of much more expensive pellets.
These Premiers justify a HAM Gold Award because their remarkably low price makes them outstanding value. If you’re looking for a “go to” pellet at a very low price, this is the place to start!

Number Seven – H&N Sniper Magnum
H&N Sniper Magnum 14.97 Grain .177 caliber pellets offer the potential for excellent long-range hunting – so long as your air rifle’s barrel likes them.
These pellets also have found a niche with some enthusiastic Field Target shooters due to their flat trajectory and consistent head sizes.
Sniper Magnums easily earn a HAM Bronze Award. They’re definitely worth trying if you’re a long range airgun shooter.

In Eighth Place – H&N Hornet
H&N Hornets have a great reputation as a hunting pellet. In the HAM test review, we liked the devastating impact performance and good manufacturing consistency of these .22 caliber pellets. These are definitely a hunting pellet to try. Only their high price told against them in our HAM test review.
But how many pellets do you actually shoot in a day’s hunting? The price may not be a problem given their performance.

Number Nine – H&N Baracuda Match
H&N Baracuda Match .177 caliber, 10.65 Grain pellets are well known and respected for their good performance in many air rifles. As you can see from HAM test reviews, they frequently give strong accuracy – particularly with more powerful PCPs.
The high Ballistic Coefficient leads to strong downrange performance, ideal for hunting small game and birds.
They are priced well for pellets of such proven overall quality. They easily earn a HAM Bronze Award in this test review.

Number Ten – Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum
Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum pellets earn a HAM Silver Award in .177 caliber because they combine low price with acceptable quality.
This is a popular pellet for long range hunting use – if you can manage to unscrew the tin, that is!
The variable head size means that there’s a clear case for sorting Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum pellets before use. Even just rejecting the ones that are too tight or too loose when loaded into the barrel will improve downrange accuracy for most shooters.
