Day Two of the 2018 Extreme Benchrest saw the 50 Yard benchrest competition. There was also Card One of the main 75 Yard Extreme Benchrest shoot. You can catch-up on the first day’s news and some interesting new products to be seen here in previous HAM reports.
The weather has been unusually cool, today it even rained. A VERY unusual happening at these competitions. Well, not rain in the sense that we understand it in upstate New York. But a few drops of something wet hitting the ground nevertheless. It was actually quite pleasant!
Among the international visitors to 2018 Extreme Benchrest was Hans Weihrauch. Yes, the owner of the famous Weihrauch Sport company. He was obviously having a great time and enjoying the competition. That’s Hans in our photograph below.
Among the shooters at the 50 Yard line was Lauren Parsons, who looked pleased with her performance.
Also shooting was last year’s Extreme Benchrest winner Shane Keller. This year, he also was shooting a Daystate Red Wolf. This was a very popular choice. They were everywhere!
As always, the firing line was packed with competitors. 2018 Extreme Benchrest was full and actually over-subscribed with shooters wanting to take part.
Not all the competitors are old enough to qualify for a driver’s license either, as we see below.
Travis from Airgun Depot was competing and enjoying the event, too. 2018 Extreme Benchrest was his first visit here, but undoubtedly will not be his last!
A long-standing EBR competitor is Tim McMurray, the well-known airgunsmith and tuner. A past winner of Extreme Benchrest, he was also keen to fight against the wind on this challenging course yet again.
Of course, just about all the Airguns of Arizona staff are also shooters. Stephen Buchanan, who heads the AoA Service Department, is another regular competitor. For 2018 Extreme Benchrest, he’s grown a beard, which I’m sure will improve downrange accuracy!
This year, I noticed many more spotting scopes by audience members to track the shooting as it happened. Both shooters and non-shooters are really serious about this competition.
Meanwhile, Larry Piercey of AoA was happily providing support for competitors from the AoA van. Thanks Larry!
