One interesting aspect of EBR 2018 is the number of new products making their appearance. Some are new introductions, others are prototypes that may, or may not reach production. Some are just “one offs”.

Of course, I’m always keeping my eyes open for any new appearances, so here’s a sneak peek at the new products to be seen at EBR 2018…

The Brocock Commander was first shown at IWA earlier in the year. Now the first production models have arrived in the USA. Robert Buchanan of AoA and Justin Jacobsen of Utah Airguns were definitely both interested in this new model.

The Brocock Commander has a Huma regulator built-in. It also features a folding buttstock that would make it a great truck gun. Interestingly, with the buttstock folded to one side, it’s easy to gain access to the hammer spring adjuster, if required.

Now this was certainly unexpected!

Dave Mills, from the Airgun Training and Education Organisation in the UK, had travelled across the Pond to EBR 2018 with a real “one of a kind” BSA Gold Star SE.

This BSA was built as a “special” by the British manufacturer especially for trial at EBR 2018. It’s based on a regulated  .177 caliber Gold Star R10 SE, but was actually in .25 caliber!

Dave explained to me that the gun has a BSA barrel – the first fluted barrel ever manufactured by the company, mated with an air stripper at the muzzle. He was planning to shoot it in the American Field Target competition at EBR 2018 – the power level of 37.5 Ft/Lbs promised to be ideal for that competition.

Does the appearance of this gun signal a resurgence of interest by BSA in the US market? Time will tell…

A beautiful Brocock Bantam Sniper “one off” was also to be seen at EBR 2018. This had an airbrushed stock by Jeff Bullock of Liquid Steel Designs in Blackpool, England.

Liquid Steel Designs is a Cerakote supplier to Daystate/Brocock and this custom project was to raise the profile of the company. The gun was in .22 caliber and producing 31 Ft/Lbs of Muzzle Energy.

Another interesting appearance at EBR 2018 was that of Leupold. This famous scope manufacturer has not been noted for its range or airgun scopes, however maybe that could change in future?

Leupold Product Manager Tom Moyle was taking the opportunity of EBR 2018 to learn more about the airgun market. He also was showing a new product, the Leupold Santian 27 – 55 x 80 spotting scope.

Tom explained to me that this new spotting scope has an updated design and lens coatings which match that of Leupold’s top-of-the-line hunting scopes. That’s Twilight Max HD coating. The lenses are also coated for abrasion resistance.

Built in a polycarbonate housing for strength and lightness, this spotting scope weighs 68 Ounces and has an MSRP of a cool $1,799.99. Was it good? The optical quality certainly seemed stellar to me…

Last, but certainly not least, Airguns of Arizona are making official Extreme Benchrest targets available for sale. So, if you missed EBR 2018, now you can stock-up in time for plenty of practice to compete next year!
