Just arrived in the HAM editorial offices is a FX Crown air rifle. This one is in blue laminate and the caliber is .177. It just has to be ideal for Field Target shooting!

Obviously the HAM Team will be exploring this FX Crown with a fine tooth comb over the next few weeks. But first, let’s see what you find when you open that large box that arrived by one of our favorite parcel delivery firms…

Absolute first impressions are: “Wow, this is heavy!”

And that’s true because the FX Crown air rifle is supplied in a large, heavy and very sturdy synthetic rifle case. Weight of the gun in its case is actually 11.5 Lbs.

The second impression is “ouch!”, because you need to be careful or you’ll break a finger nail when opening the push in/pull out-type case locks. Yip, I did that!

Third impression – after you have opened the case – is “Wow, that’s a beautiful airgun!” Yes, the FX Crown air rifle is a vision of pure beauty.

You reach in and pick up the Crown for the first time. Then your reaction is “Wow, this is light!” This FX Crown air rifle weighs-in at just 6 Lbs 15 Oz. It feels light, svelte and just wonderful to the touch.

It’s obvious that both wood and metal finishes are perfect: that’s absolutely P-E-R-F-E-C-T.

But where’s the magazine? It’s actually in a small plastic bag securely placed under the lower foam section of the case. And with it is the long-length female quick disconnect that’s required to fill the FX Crown air rifle with air. (It’s actually the same part that’s used with the Impact, for example).

Oh yes, and there’s a very nice Owner’s Manual. Being strong believers in “RTFM”, the HAM Team will be reading that before we start to review the gun itself.

We can see that there’s air in the carbon fiber HPA tank from the pressure gauge. Also clear is the regulator pressure, indicated by its own gauge.

All we need now is to mount a suitable scope and start shooting. Look out for the complete FX Crown air rifle test review in HAM, coming your way soon…
