Back at the SHOT Show in January, all eyes were on the new SIG SAUER ASP 20 air rifle. But there was another airgun product hidden in plain sight at the same time – the SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope.
This scope was mounted on the ASP 20 air rifles displayed at the SHOT Show. I also shot this gun using the scope at SIG SAUER’s Exclusive Press Day on the Sunday before the show opened. Yip, that’s me below at the time.
And – as you can see from the photographs – the SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope was attached to the ASP20 air rifle by some dedicated SIG SAUER rings.
I was impressed by the optical clarity and contrast shown by this scope. But – like everyone else – I was guilty of concentrating on the SIG SAUER ASP 20 air rifle at the time!
Details of the SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope are still somewhat difficult to establish. Here’s what we know…
The SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope is a special model from the SIG SAUER Electro-Optics Division that is designed especially to fit the new ASP 20 air rifle. This means – among other things – that it is braced to resist the strong forward recoil of gas ram (and spring/piston) air rifles.
The SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope has a magnification range from 4 to 12 x. This is combined with a 44mm diameter objective lens. The reticle is of the second focal plane type.
My guess is that this will not be a cheap scope. But – in line with other SIG SAUER scopes – we can expect to see excellent optical and build quality. It’s certainly being developed to partner SIG SAUER’s new ASP 20 gas ram-powered air rifle.
We can probably expect that the SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope will be covered by SIG SAUER’s “no questions asked Infinite Guarantee”. That sounds very much like a lifetime warranty to me.

Also discussed at the SHOT Show was the possibility that the SIG SAUER Whiskey3 ASP scope could be the first airgun scope to feature pellet drop compensation turrets. This would need to be matched to the ASP20 air rifle and specific pellets of course.
Will this happen? Dunno, we’ll need to wait for the formal announcement in the April/May 2018 timeframe. Everything will become clear then. Until that time, this is what we do know.
As always, keep checking HAM for the latest airgun news…
