In this exclusive story, Hard Air Magazine can reveal that the new Diana Skyhawk bullpup PCP air rifle will be launched next week at the 2018 SHOT Show.
The Diana Skyhawk is a new model in Diana’s “Action Line” of products. It’s a bullpup PCP that will be available in .177 cal, .22 cal and .25 caliber. Muzzle Energies claimed by the company for the new Diana Skyhawk are 19 Ft/Lbs in .177 cal, 32 Ft/Lbs in .22 cal and 38 Ft/Lbs in .25 cal.
The Diana Skyhawk is fitted with a shrouded barrel and uses a rotary magazine with side lever action. It’s very compact at just 29 Inches overall length, yet the bullpup configuration allows the barrel to be 22 Inches long.
The company tells HAM that the Diana Skyhawk will be available with stocks custom manufactured by the Italian specialist firm Minelli. These include a laminated version, together with walnut and beech stocks. There’s also a Diana Skyhawk Silver version which combines a bright “silver” finish with a black stock.
Maximum fill pressure is high at 3,620 PSI. This is much above that of the Diana Stormrider, but the same as that of the other new Diana PCP air rifle – the Outlaw.
The Diana Outlaw has a conventional, non-bullpup, PCP air rifle. It has a side lever action and adjustable trigger, combined with a German beech wood stock. There’s a shrouded barrel, too.
The Outlaw is a more powerful air rifle than the Diana Skyhawk bullpup PCP. The manufacturer claims Muzzle Energies of 22 Ft/Lbs in .177 caliber and 35 Ft/Lbs in .22 cal. The .25 caliber Diana Outlaw gives no less than 45 Ft/Lbs, Diana tells us.
Diana says that the new Outlaw has a “constant valve”. This may mean that it’s regulated for more consistent Muzzle Velocity. HAM Publisher Stephen Archer will clarify this at the SHOT Show.
Magazine capacities for the Outlaw are also greater than for the Diana Skyhawk. This is another way in which the Diana Outlaw appears to be positioned well above the Skyhawk in Diana’s Action Line.
The Diana Stormrider was the first model in the Action Line and, of course it remains available. You can read about the concept behind Diana’s Action Line in this interview in Hard Air Magazine.
Pistol shooters are not forgotten either! The new Diana Bandit is a new .177 caliber PCP air pistol with the option of single shot or magazine loading.
Phew!
