For their final announcement in this series, Pyramyd Air has announced their top selling air rifles over $500 of 2017.
In the past, this category has been led year-after-year by the Benjamin Marauder air rifle. However, now that the price of this gun has fallen below the $500 mark for the basic gun, it’s out of this 2017 best sellers list.
This means that the Benjamin Bulldog – previously the number two model – has jumped into top position. Benjamin still hold the top slot, but now with a different model!
The second most popular model is something of a surprise, it’s the Air Arms T200 Sporter. True, this gun featured in Pyramyd Air’s top selling air rifles over $500 list in 2016 and 2015. But before it’s not climbed higher than fourth position in previous years.
In third position is the Seneca Dragon Claw. Seneca? It seems that this is a new airgun brand that’s being introduced by Air Venturi. This covers air rifles previously sold under the Sam Yang and Air Venturi Brands. Previously this model has been sold as the Sam Yang Dragon Claw.
As in previous years, nine out of ten of Pyramyd Air’s top selling air rifles over $500 are PCPs. As before, the only exception is the Air Arms TX200 underlever springer. This year it’s in the number seven position. It was in ninth place in 2015 and climbed as high as fourth place in 2016.
In fact, there’s been remarkably little change in this list over the years!
With the exception of an entry by the Hatsan Gladius at eighth position in 2016, the brands in this group have been the same every year – if we retrospectively rename the Korean PCPs which are now known as Seneca air rifles.
Because of the Marauder’s price-based exclusion, Benjamin has two models in this top selling air rifles over $500 list. That’s down from three in 2016 and 2015.
Seneca-branded air rifles now hold three spots. It was two in 2016 and three in 2015.
AirForce guns tie with three models in this list. It was two previously.
And the Air Arms T200 Sporter and TX200 have been in the list every year, too.
