Looking closely at Pyramyd Air’s top selling air pistols of 2017, we find that there has been somewhat less change than we saw over the past three years with air rifles.
Colt Peacemakers – in one form or another – continue to hold the top-selling position. This is probably an indication of the hold this iconic design has among Americans.
Of course, most of these top selling air pistols are CO2-powered replicas. 1911 replicas feature strongly every year. For 2017, the John Wayne 1911 hit the number two spot, while the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 held third place in 2016 and fourth position in 2015.
As we can see, the Beretta 92A1 appeared in third place for 2017, taking over from the Beretta PX4 which held eighth position in both 2016 and 2015.
It’s also clear that SIG SAUER air pistols are increasing in popularity. The P226 just scraped-in to number ten position in 2016, while the P320 made it to fifth place in Pyramyd Air’s list of top selling air pistols of 2017.
Probably the increasing interest in “replica” air pistols has caused some longtime favorites to fall back somewhat in sales.
The Crosman 2240 appears at number ten in Pyramyd Air’s top selling air pistols of 2017 list. It held the number four spot in 2016 and was the number two seller in 2015. Similarly, the Crosman 1322 held sixth position in 2015, but has not featured in this ranking since.
The Remington 1875 is a newcomer to the list in 2017. This further indicates the appetite for cowboy wheel guns. And since the 1875 has only been for sale since the fall, it’s position indicates that it has been a very fast-selling model since introduction.
