The Diana Skyhawk Gen 2 PCP air rifle is another new version of an existing “Action Line” model. It follows hot-on-the-heels of the Outlaw Gen 2 that we saw just a few days ago.
As with the Outlaw Gen 2, the improvements are mostly incremental but worthwhile. The biggest change concerns the location of the sidelever cocking handle.
As we can see above, the sidelever is now mounted amidships on the Diana Skyhawk Gen 2 PCP air rifle. This is – in HAM’s opinion – a HUGE improvement on the rear-mounted – “cock by ear” – location of the original model that we see below.
Below. Here’s a closer look at the cocking lever. Also prominent is the Picatinny scope rail that has replace the dovetail rail of the original version.
There’s also a plastic cheekpiece that provides a more comfortable cheek weld, as well as covering the operating linkage from the cocking lever to the breech. Plus – at the rear of the buttstock, a sling swivel stud.
There’s still an useful vertically-adjustable buttpad, as with the previous model.
As with the Outlaw Gen 2, there’s also now a regulator pressure gauge fitted to the left side of the gun, plus a carbon fiber barrel shroud – as can be seen below.
Overall length is 29 Inches, with a barrel 17.7 Inches long. Weight of the “bare” gun is approximately 6.7 Lbs.
The muzzle is now threaded to enable an airgun-specific silencer to be mounted where legal.
In .177 caliber, the Diana Skyhawk Gen 2 air rifle develops up to 19 Ft/Lbs of Muzzle Energy in .177 caliber. It’s 32 Ft/Lbs in .22 caliber.
The magazine is of a “vertical” design and holds 11 rounds in .177 caliber. 9 rounds in .22 cal. Two are bundled with the gun.
The new Skyhawk is in stock now at Pyramyd. All-in-all, it’s definitely a worthwhile upgrade over the original version.
