Pyramyd’s 2024 Top Air Pistols – What Do We Learn?
So what do we learn from Pyramyd’s 2024 top pistols list?
Well – for a start – we see that 2023’s trend for only six of the pistols to be CO2-powered has continued. ONLY six? Yes, because there were seven in the 2022 list and before that it was eight or nine every year.

This year, we see two PCPs – again both from Hatsan – plus one spring/piston and one single-stroke pneumatic action.
Does this mean that the days of the CO2-powered air pistol are numbered? This is unlikely in my opinion as CO2 power still provides the best propulsion method for the ultra-realistic firearms-reproduction blowback pistols that dominate the list.
Incredibly – to me at least – no less than three out of this top ten are Glock models that are sold by Umarex. As the Ruger Mk IV and Colt Peacemaker are also Umarex products, this means that the company holds five out of the top ten spots in this list. Congratulations Umarex!
As with air rifles, we find a couple of real long-term air pistol stars that appear in Pyramyd’s list every year. These are the Crosman 2240 and the Beeman P17.

Both 2240 and P17 models make the “top ten” list every year and that defines them as real classics. Indeed the 2240 even topped the list outright for both 2023 and 2024, while coming second as long ago as 2015!
