Coming Soon! The NateChrony SteadyShot

The NateChrony SteadyShot was a complete surprise at the recent 2024 Pyramyd Cup!

I was looking forward to meeting Nathan Besh – that’s Nate from NateChrony. It was indeed a pleasure. That’s Nate in our heading photograph above.

Plus, I was looking forward to discussing the NateChrony with Nate himself. We certainly did that and there will be a future review about that device forthcoming in Hard Air Magazine. Here’s a Nate Chrony mounted on an air rifle using one of Nate’s adapters.

But there was more…

Nate used the Pyramyd Cup to reveal a forthcoming new product that he has in the works. It’s the NateChrony SteadyShot.

Nate’s SteadyShot combines the NateChrony with a 3-axis accelerometer. Why? Well, now you have a sophisticated, yet low-cost training tool that’s able to measure precisely how much an airgun – and hence the shooter – wobbles before and while a shot is being taken.

Nate had a prototype SteadyShot working at the Pyramyd Cup. Actually it was attached to a Nerf gun. Many people tried it, including myself, as you can see in the photo above. (Note the Foreign Legion-style neck protector. It’s going to be a new fashion trend for sure!)

Nate is still working on final tweaks to the product before commencing production. However, the prototype software clearly showed how the SteadyShot will work. The benefits are easy to see.

Strictly-speaking, the NateChrony SteadyShot focuses on acceleration NOT movement. It demonstrates how smooth and consistent movement has a much lower impact on shooting accuracy than sudden, rapid motion.

The SteadyShot provides data on acceleration in three directions. That’s X (left-right), Y (up-down) and Z (back-forward) acceleration.

Nate explained to me that he has worked with an Olympic shooting coach to develop a useful scoring system that will help the user to improve his or her shooting style.

The score is broken down into each axis – helping to understand exactly when and where you need to correct movement. Data is provided in a graph layout, with each axis shown on a different graph. The bigger the swings on the chart, the more you are wobbling!

Raw data can also viewed and easily exported for further analysis.

The SteadyShot captures 5 seconds worth of data each time it’s used. Capture stops when the pellet exits the barrel.

Nate explained that his new device is compatible with all NateChrony adapters. It’s also the same size and layout as the existing v2 NateChrony – with the addition of a negligable additional amount of weight.

Nate is planning to launch the NateChrony SteadyShot before the end of 2024. Hard Air Magazine will be bringing you the details as soon as we have them!
