Hard Air Magazine readers first heard of the new Benjamin M600 Airbow in our report from the SHOT Show in January 2024.
Now it’s officially in production, is launched and is shipping. In fact, it’s available at Pyramyd right now!
The M600 Airbow is available with or without a bundled CenterPoint 6×40 AO scope and Benjamin sling. Either way, it comes complete with three arrows, a quiver and a 20 MOA canted Picatinny mount optics rail.
These photographs show the complete kit. It’s Model Number BPABMX.
More Power
Although the new Benjamin M600 Airbow looks similar to the long-running original Benjamin Pioneer Airbow, there’s a number of significant differences.
For the hunter, the main improvement is that Muzzle Energy has increased by a massive 78%. It’s now specified at 300+ Ft/Lbs, compared to the 168 Ft/Lbs of the original model, and definitely capable of taking large game, where permitted.
Benjamin engineers have made this huge power increase through a number of changes. First, HPA fill pressure has been increased from 3,000 PSI to 3,625 PSI.
Second, the M600 is not regulated. Instead of the eight regulated shots per fill at 450+ FPS from the original Airbow, the M600 now makes three shots at an average of 600 FPS. That more closely corresponds to the needs of most hunters.
Thirdly, there’s a new type of arrow. Benjamin M Series Airbow Arrows have additional strength and durability through the use of cross-weave carbon fiber. These 26-Inch, 360 Gr arrows are not compatible with previous Airbow arrows, however as they do not have a knock.
Improved Usability
Usability improvements include moving the pressure gauge from the end of the HPA tube to a much preferable location on the side of the action below the cocking handle.
Another improvement is the replacement of the probe fill charging system with a standard male quick disconnect. Filling is now made in the same way and in the same location as the well-know Benjamin Bulldog air rifle.
The built-in sling swivel studs combine with the Benjamin padded sling of the “Kit version” to make carrying in the field convenient and comfortable.
One other change is that the synthetic stock now has an attractive olive drab appearance. (I believe that the color is officially meant to be black. But it definitely looks like olive green to me and I like it).
Overall length of the Benjamin M600 Airbow is 33.4 Inches. Weight is 7 Lbs 2 Oz for the base Airbow. That increases to 9 Lb 6 Oz “all up” including scope, sling and quiver.
Additional Benjamin M Series Airbow Arrows are available in tubes of six and they have field points as standard. The Benjamin Model Number for these is BAMA-6PK.
Pricing
Street Price for this new Airbow alone is $899.99. The Kit retails for $1,099.99. A six-pack of M Series arrows is $119.99.
