The new Walther PPQ M2 pellet pistol is a recent introduction by Umarex USA.
In fact, as Walther and Umarex are both brands of the same company, this is – strictly speaking – not a replica of the PPQ M2. It’s actually a pellet pistol from the same manufacturer as the powder-burner.
HAM tested the original PPQ waaaay back in 2015. It was a HAM Gold Award winner then and sold at a Street Price of $65. That same pistol is selling at $69.99 today in 2022, so it would now be even better value!
The Walther PPQ M2 pellet pistol differs in a number of ways from that original model, as follows:
Original PPQ | New PPQ M2 | |
---|---|---|
Street Price (Nov 2022) | $69.99 | $109.99 |
Magazine Capacity | 8 | 21 |
Blowback Action | No | Yes |
Claimed Muzzle Velocity | 360 FPS | 400 FPS |
Drop Free Magazine | No | Yes |
The new, drop free magazine holds the 12 Gram CO2 cartridge. Also included are the valve assembly and the 21-round pellet belt feed.
Unlike the original PPQ. the PPQ M2 includes a blowback action for the slide. However, it’s still not strictly a semi auto action as the belt is rotated by the action of pulling the trigger.
The Walther PPQ M2 pellet pistol has one of the slickest CO2-loading systems the HAM Team has seen. Removing the backstrap of the pistol grip reveals the Allen (hex) key on the end of it for tightening the CO2 loading screw.
The CO2 loading screw itself is completely hidden by a sliding cover plate, of the drop-free magazine. Very neat!
There’s also a functioning trigger safety in the PPQ M2. This works in a similar way to the firearm by preventing the trigger blade from being pulled back unless pressure is applied to the trigger safety.
For the airgun PPQ M2, there’s also a separate manual safety, too.
HAM will be bringing you a full review of this new pistol in the near future. It will be very interesting to see how much has improved in the M2 compared to the original PPQ pellet pistol!
