Recently HAM announced that the JDS Airacuda PCP air rifle will be available soon. Now we have news that there will be a second version – it’s the JTS Airacuda Max.
Pyramyd Air has announced that it will be carrying both the standard model and the Airacuda Max. Both guns are of traditional wood and metal construction. They also both have similar performance specifications.
However the JTS Airacuda Max justifies its increased price with the inclusion of some additional useful features.
First among these is the inclusion of a built-in regulator. (The regular Airacuda is un-regulated). The result will be a more consistent shot string in use, compared to the unregulated model.
Although this regulator is not externally-adjustable, the Max does include a second pressure gauge visible in the underside of the stock. The front pressure gauge indicates the HPA fill pressure, the one nearest the trigger registers the regulated pressure entering the valve.
A second difference is in the style of stock fitted. The JTS Airacuda Max is fitted with a thumbhole stock that’s manufactured from solid hard wood – like the base model. In addition to stippling around the pistol grip and forearm, this stock is fitted with an adjustable cheekpiece.
By providing a customizable cheek weld when shooting, the adjustable cheekpiece can make a significant benefit towards accurate shooting in the field.
Performance claims are the same as for the regular model. That’s a maximum Muzzle Velocity of 920 FPS in .22 caliber and 900 FPS in .25 caliber. There’s an adjustable power capability, via a knob on the side of the breech. This undoubtedly will alter the transfer port area available for the regulated air when firing.
