Thanks to the manufacturer, HAM can now exclusively share some more information on the new RTI Prophet II air rifle that we revealed last month.
In fact, there’s some updates to the information we published in our previous report. So the data here should be regarded as the most accurate representation of the product’s performance…
The main differences compared to the first version are:
– New breech block which now includes integrated 70 cc plenum. Theoretically, you could put two extended plenums on the gun and gain 44 cc additional volume, but it is not needed.
– The new assisted valve system closes and opens quicker (measured 1 millisecond open and 1 millisecond close time). This means it uses less air for the same energy output and also means you can gain more energy.
– New RPB barrels in .22 and .25 which shoot slugs as well as pellets. These have a huge double transfer port for maximum air efficiency.
RTI tells HAM that the external regulator pressure regulator is being enhanced with each production batch as well. RTI explains that they run this as a separate project so we are able to iterate upgrades quicker than on complete rifles.
To give some indication of accuracy, the company exclusively has shared two test targets produced with the .22 caliber Prophet II PCP air rifle. The first was shot indoors at 50 Meters (55 Yards) with JSB Jumbo Exact Heavy 18.13 Grain pellets.
The second was shot outside at 100 Meters (109 Yards) with 24 Grain NSA slugs. Both targets show the excellent accuracy that HAM found in our test review of the original Prophet.
Again, this is a five-shot group. (HAM commends the manufacturer for showing a target including that one “flier”!!!)
In addition, the manufacturer has provided test data about the power of the RTI Prophet II air rifle – in both “long” and “Compact” versions. Here’s the graph for the full-length Prophet II.
