HAM PCP air rifle tester Doug Rogers is a long-time fan of the HW100. It’s a HAM Gold Award winner. So, as the expiration date of the Weihrauch HW100 air cylinder on his gun approached, he looked around for a replacement.
Rather than make a straight “like for like” replacement with a regular Weihrauch factory tank, Doug decided that he would like a little additional air capacity. That would – he hopes – enable him to complete a full day’s Field Target match on one tank of air, without the need to refill.
While undertaking online research, Doug came across the British company, HW100 Tuning. There he found an extended length aftermarket air cylinder for the HW100 rifle, manufactured from Titanium.
Above we see the original factory tube (with lettering), together with the replacement Weihrauch HW100 air cylinder. The new cylinder is the Extended Tube for Rifle With FSB model.
As installation of the new cylinder requires the removal and replacement of the end cap assemblies, Doug also purchased the cylinder ends removal tool kit sold by HW100 Tuning for this purpose. He was very glad that he did. as – despite being an experienced machinist – Doug feels that without these tools, it would have been very difficult to remove the end caps without damage.
Above we see the two tools in the removal kit, plus the new tube. The photograph below one of the cylinder end removal tools in a wrench for use.
The extended Titanium cylinder is both longer and lighter than the factory original. So the balance of the gun will be altered and there’s the distinct promise of a greater shot count.
Doug found assembly to be easy to undertake. Once he had loosened the ends from the original tube, that is!

Here they are installed onto the new, replacement tube.
Doug is pleased with his new, upgraded air cylinder. It’s already passed his leak test and he has no doubt that the extended length will translate into additional shots in use.
Finally we need to say that Doug purchased this upgrade as an ordinary retail customer. HW100 Tuning did not know of his association with Hard Air Magazine. But he found the service prompt and describes the parcel sent to him as being the best-packed he’s ever seen!
