As predicted by HAM back in August, Pyramyd Air has now introduced the ability to build your own custom Ataman AP16 PCP air pistol.
The custom Ataman AP16 option has been added to the Pyramyd Air “build your own airgun” page. It’s a considerable step up in cost and performance from the existing CO2-powered, Colt SAA-based models that Pyramyd offered as it’s first offerings.

Let’s work through the software and build our own custom Ataman AP16 air pistol…
The software starts with an empty canvas, but indicates the options that are available for customization.
The first step is to start by specifying the color of the “Base”. Actually, we’d call it the receiver. For our custom build, we chose a black receiver. At each stage of the customization process, the software shows you the appearance of your pistol, as it’s being virtually built.
Step two is to choose the pistol grip frame. We chose Titanium finish for this.
Then there’s a choice of HPA cylinder length and finish. In choosing the long Titanium cylinder, we pretty-well guaranteed also choosing a long barrel. The software made that clear!
Now for a standard long, black barrel to match the black receiver…
Next a Titanium trigger guard to match the finish of the grip frame and HPA cylinder.
Finally, we added a set of traditional walnut grips to finish our pistol. As you can see, the software displays the cost of the options you select so that you clearly understand the costs involved.
If you want to flip the gun and see the other side at any time during or after the build process, you can do that, too.
Also, it’s good to see that the Pyramyd Air “Test Drive” stage of the custom build includes accuracy testing for PCP airguns such as this Ataman air pistol.
Hard Air Magazine was impressed with the custom Colt SAA revolver Pyramyd Air built for us. It earned a HAM Gold Award on test with the highest score we’ve ever awarded to an air pistol.
