Air Arms Field Target shooter Jack Harris strikes again with yet another win at the 2016 World Field Target Championships (WFTC), which took place from 16th to 20th August 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Jack was shooting his Air Arms EV2 air rifle.
After recently winning the 2016 British Field Target Association (BFTA) Grand Prix Series, Jack’s performance has remained strong, leading him to top the scoreboards at the highly acclaimed WFTC, which saw a total of 390 competitors go head to head for the chance to be crowned the 2016 World Field Target Champion.
Air Arms’ youngest field target shooter achieved consistent results throughout the 3-day competition, with 44 points on day 1 followed by 46 points on both days 2 and 3. Jack racked up an impressive total of 136 hits, edging him ahead of Russian competitor Sergey Zubenko by just 2 points.
Andy Calpin, Air Arms field target shooter, also achieved phenomenal scores with a total of 133 hits, placing him in 3rd position. Andy was using an Air Arms FTP 900 air rifle.
Air Arms Managing Director Claire West commented: “Jack has been part of the Air Arms Field Target Team for a number of years now and he has constantly improved his position within the FT circuit. Jack missed out on the World Title by just 1 point last year, so to come back this year and take the top position is truly phenomenal. Andy Calpin performed brilliantly taking 3rd position and earning Air Arms two placing’s in the top 3. We are so proud of all our shooters and deeply humbled by the amazing support that we have on the competition circuits. Well done to all!”
In total, over 300 shooters from 30 countries competed in the championships. 22 Teams from countries as diverse as Uruguay, South Africa, England and the USA took part in the PCP competition. A further 9 teams from different countries contested the Springer Division.
