In this post, Chad Kentner reviews the Accu-Tac bipod that has become such a fixture supporting high end PCP air rifles at long range benchrest competitions and elsewhere. Take it away Chad…
Well, I would be lying if I said that 2020 was anything but a disappointment when it comes to airgun events, gatherings and fun.
However – being one to try and find a sliver of positivity when it comes to disappointment – I have been looking to see how we as airgunners can help turn the tides and find a way to take advantage of the situation.
If we are honest with ourselves, we are also saving some substantial cash when it comes to not being able to attend these events. As long as we are being “honest,” we may as well also admit to the fact that airgunners tend to be people who are looking to get the best out of their beloved airguns.
To do so, we often spend high dollars on the latest gun, but what about those accessories that can really help us get the most out of our purchases? I intend to make 2020 the year that I invest in such equipment. So when 2021 finally rolls in, I can hit the ground running and finally enjoy those activities that will be missed this year!
For me, that first accessory was a new bipod…
Often overlooked, the bi-pod is that piece of equipment that attaches you and the rifle to a stable surface. High levels of accuracy are only achievable if you and the rifle are properly supported.
If you have gone to as many events as I have, you would know that Accu-Tac bipods have found themselves at the top of the winner’s circle time and time again.
As a matter of fact, I was using one when I achieved the highest qualifying score at Extreme Benchrest 2019. At the time I was using an older FC5-QD bipod by Accu-Tac that has been replaced by the FC-G2 bipod that is currently available.
You may be asking why upgrade from a proven model? For me it all came down to added functionality. The FC-G2 not only allows the shooter to pan, but now allows additional adjustability to adjust the cant of your rifle and then lock it down.
Along with that, the bipod has a lower center of gravity and oversized rubber feet to help with stability. The other noticeable change was the fact that the back of the adjustable legs are now covered. Whereas before you could potentially have dust, dirt or debris enter more easily.
Other aspects that might make this a great option for your kit include the ability to angle the bipod legs at fixed 90 degree and 45 degree angles for solid positioning. In addition, there’s over 1.5-Inch of travel in each leg and micro adjustments achievable using the screws for the feet.
The other features that I really like is the extra wide stance (up to 16.5-Inches) of this Accu-Tac bipod that provides unparalleled stability and quick detach picatinny rail mount.
Coming in at just over 28 Oz, this is a top quality product for any shooter who demands the absolute best of their equipment. Head on over to visit Airguns of Arizona to take a closer look at the Accu-Tac FC-G2 bipod as well as other Accu-Tac models.
