If you’re interested in Mauser Kar 98k firearms, you probably know that Diana already has an underlever air rifle inspired by this rifle. Now there’s a Diana K98 PCP air rifle also!
This new air rifle has styling inspired by the World War II German service rifle. This is primarily found in the shape of the wood stock and handguard. The front sight and barrel band are similar, too.
There’s a curved bolt handle at the rear of the action and a manual safety. The pressure gauge is located in the underside of the stock, ahead of the trigger guard. The HPA fill probe inserts in the underside of the barrel band.
There’s an open rear sight that replicates the feel of the firearm original. However, it looks to be set somewhat further forward than that of the original firearm. Standard airgun scope rails are also machined into the K98’s receiver.
Given the sling slots in the stock and barrel band, it certainly looks like a Kar 98k military-issue (or replica) sling would fit well.
Fill pressure of the Diana K98 PCP is 2,900 PSI. It’s available in both .177 and .22 calibers. Claimed Muzzle Energies are up to 20 Ft/Lbs in .177 cal. and 26 Ft/Lbs in the larger caliber.
Some specifications sound similar to those of the Diana Stormrider: power, fill pressure, HPA volume, for example. However, apparently a different magazine is used, so there are clearly some differences between these models.
The Diana K98 PCP air rifle is clearly not a 99% accurate replica in the sense that many of the CO2-powered BB replicas are – like the Legends MP40, for example. However, it definitely has the feel of the original firearm.
That, combined with the convenience of a magazine-fed PCP action, will probably be just fine for many Kar 98k enthusiasts…
