The Hard Air Magazine test team has added more BCs to the world’s biggest pellet BC database. So now there’s even more great, consistent data for the serious airgunner who cares about accuracy.

In fact, our test data is so highly regarded by JSB that they recommend their customers to use the Ballistic Coefficient data from Hard Air Magazine!

The pellets which have been added are as follows:

.177 Caliber

GTO 6.73 Grain Alloys. Ballistic Coefficient 0.012. Note, it’s very unusual for us to be able to measure a solid BC for .177 alloy pellets. These GTOs were the exception and recorded perfectly!

H&N Baracuda FT pellets. 9.57 Grain. Ballistic Coefficient 0.015.

.22 Caliber

Crosman Premier Ultra Heavy, 19.0 Grains. Ballistic Coefficient 0.017. (Surprisingly low this, we had expected better, but the data is clear).

36 Grain Nielsen Slugs. Ballistic Coefficient 0.096.

.25 Caliber

JSB Hades 26.54 Grain pellets. Ballistic Coefficient 0.026.

.30 Caliber

Predator Polymag 44.75 Grain pellets. Ballistic Coefficient 0.025.

All HAM airgun Ballistic Coefficient testing has been undertaken by the same experienced, dedicated testers, using the same FX Impact air rifle, set to full power, with all FPS measurements recorded using the same Labradar Doppler Radar system.

Labradar measures pellet velocities to an accuracy of 0.1%. Because it uses radar waves to measure the velocity of a pellet throughout its flight, there’s no need to position multiple Chronographs downrange. As no two Chronographs are likely to read EXACTLY the same any errors caused by measurements using multiple Chronys are eliminated by using this method.

As is well known, the regulated PCP power system of the FX Impact air rifle provides very consistent Muzzle Velocities. The Impact also uses interchangeable barrels and bolts of different calibers. This allowed the same Impact air rifle to be used for BC testing in all four calibers. This eliminated any variation in BC from using different air rifles.

All tests were undertaken on the same, sheltered outdoor range in calm weather conditions.

HAM’s Ballistic Coefficients are calculated from velocity measurements taken at the muzzle and at 30 Yards, using the GA drag model.

The HAM Team hopes that this data is useful and helpful for airgunners everywhere. Feel free to use world’s biggest pellet BC database and improve your accuracy downrange!
