The Umarex Synergis multi shot air rifle is a new model that’s just arrived here in the HAM offices. First announced at the 2019 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the Synergis is a very interesting air rifle with a novel combination of features for a great price.

The multi shot, magazine-fed breakbarrel air rifle genre was started by the Gamo Swarm Maxxim. It’s been very popular with customers – even though accuracy was poor on the sample tested by HAM. Other manufacturers have moved to introduce competing products and the Synergis is obviously one of them. However, this new airgun from Umarex breaks the mold…

The Umarex Synergis multi shot air rifle is different because it uses an underlever cocking action, rather than the break barrel system chosen by the other manufacturers. This gives the potential for improved long-term accuracy, as the barrel is fixed and does not pivot when cocked for every shot.

Another benefit is that the 12-shot rotary magazine sits low down in the action and does not steal light away from the scope – as is the case with some multi-shot breakbarrel air rifles. Note that the Synergis is available in .177 caliber only. The claimed maximum Muzzle Velocity is 1,200 FPS with alloy pellets.

However this does make the Synergis a rather long air rifle at 45 3/4 Inches in length. It’s heavy too! The weight including the supplied scope is 9 Lbs 6 Oz, so this is a big airgun for a large, strong shooter.

Another unusual feature is that the Synergis has a shrouded barrel. While common on PCPs, this is the first example the HAM team can think of where this technology has been used on a gas ram air rifle.

The Synergis also features a Picatinny rail that’s securely welded to the compression tube. This rail is used to hold the 3-9×40 scope and rings that’s supplied with the gun.

In combination with this strong list of features, the Umarex Synergis multi shot air rifle includes two 12-shot pellet magazines. It’s clear that Umarex has not held back in giving users great value for money. The MSRP is just $169.99. That’s much less than the HAM Team expected!

Incidentally, the 12-shot Synergis magazine looks similar to that of the Umarex Gauntlet PCP air rifle. However they’re NOT the same and not interchangeable between the two models.

HAM Tester Eric Brewer can’t wait to get his hands on the Synergis! So you can expect to see a full test review in the near future.
