As more 100 Yard benchrest competitions take place, there’s a big need for a high power spotting scope so that observers can watch the action.
Today several members of the HAM Team – and many others – are traveling to the 2019 Pyramyd Air Cup in Ohio. 100 Yard benchrest competition is being introduced to “The Cup” this year for the first time.
An example of the latest technology in premium spotting scopes is this OSCAR8 HDX Variable Power Spotting Scope from SIG SAUER Electro-Optics. With more power, magnification, and the latest advancements in technology the OSCAR8 is a premium, angled eyepiece 27–55×80 mm spotting scope, says the company.
SIG claims that the OSCAR8 features industry-innovating SIG SAUER HDX optical design. While it may be built specifically for hunters and centerfire shooters, it also can have a place for dedicated participants and spectators of long range benchrest air rifle shooting.
“The introduction of the OSCAR8 is an exciting expansion to the SIG SAUER Electro-Optic’s line of spotting scopes, and is the perfect upgrade or addition to any hunter’s pack as they gear-up for the season,” said Andy York, President, SIG SAUER Electro-Optics.
“The OSCAR8 combines our highest-powered magnification capabilities, with durability, versatility, and the latest advancements in glass, coatings and technology. The result is superior performance that can be counted-on in the field.”
SIG’s OSCAR8 HDX Variable Power Spotting Scope combines extra-low dispersion glass with high light transmittance glass and a SCHMIDT-PECHAN prism. In addition to fully multi-coated lenses, these to provide excellent resolution, image contrast, color clarity and image brightness, says SIG SAUER.
The OSCAR8 has an angled eyepiece for ease of use. It comes equipped with a rotating tripod collar for multiple viewing angles, a variable power eyepiece, fast focus adjustment, and an ergonomic rubber armor.
Just one thing. From personal experience, if you’re going to use a high power spotting scope, you’ll need it to be a premium quality unit like this one. You’ll also need a high quality tripod or other mount for stability. With a quality spotting scope and tripod, you’ll be amazed at what you can see downrange!
