Everyone likes something a little special of their own. Particularly when it’s part of an interest they’re passionate about. So it was no surprise to see some great airgun bling at the 2018 Crosman All American Field Target Competition!
Of course, airgun bling comes in many shapes, sizes and types. Sometimes it’s simply the design of the air rifle itself. For example the beautiful matching Daystate Red Wolf air rifles fielded by joint highest-scoring brothers Tom and Dennis Himes.
But, if you look a little closer, those two Red Wolf airguns had their own customization. These were beautifully-anodized screws on the scope mounts and rings. Tom had red on his Red Wolf…
… while Dennis had silver.
In fact, the Himes brothers have started to offer these anodized screws for sale to others. You can see them at www.spcracing.com
Tom Daigneault from Maverick Custom Airguns had travelled over to Up-State New York for the shoot. Among his airgun bling was a beautiful customized Crosman Silhouette pistol he had built.
This air pistol had Tom’s own custom-manufactured grips, bolt assembly and air stripper. Again, he offers these parts for sale. Here we see close-ups of the bolt…
… and air stripper.
While not exactly airgun bling, here’s an associated “bling worthy” item that was seen at the shoot. This beautiful box was manufactured by woodworker Tim Baylor of Cleveland.
It provided great protection and practical storage for this Air Arms air rifle and the associated Field Target shooting equipment. Practical and stunning! That’s a great combination for airgun bling!
Last, but far from least was this beautiful Steyr air rifle owned by Bill Rabbitt. That’s Bill in our heading photograph above.
Bill is a machinist by trade, so he had made much of the airgun bling on his gun. Among the parts he had made were the gorgeous laminated stock and the beautiful anodized scope turrets. He had also designed and printed his own scope sidewheel.
Bill’s a great shot anyhow, but his highly-personalized air rifle can’t help but inspire pride and confidence in the tool.
Does airgun bling help you shoot even better? I don’t know for sure, but it certainly doesn’t make you shoot worse!
If airgun bling gives the owner a little more enjoyment and pleasure from his or her interest, it’s fine by me…
